Abstract:
To provide a vehicle drive apparatus that has an engine, an electric rotating machine and an electric power conversion device and appropriately protect the electric power conversion device in the event of a vehicle collision.SOLUTION: A vehicle drive apparatus 1 comprises: front side members 11c that are provided at a front part of a vehicle 11 and extend in the front-rear direction; an engine 2 having an output shaft 2x that is provided inside the front side members 11c in the vehicle width direction; a generator 6 that is provided outside of the engine 2 in the vehicle width direction and between the engine 2 and the front side members 11c in the vehicle width direction and that is connected to the output shaft 2x of the engine 2; and a converter 8c electrically connected to the generator 6. The converter 8c is disposed at a position that is above the engine 2 and overlaps the upper surface of the engine 2 in a plan view.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
