Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discriminate the type of a vehicle during traveling by a simple structure.
SOLUTION: This vehicle type discrimination device is provided with laser range finders 5A and 5B for emitting scanning laser beams 3A and 3B for distance measurement respectively in the front-to-back direction and a width direction of the vehicle M, and for receiving the reflected laser beams 4A and 4B to measure a distance, a sensor controller 6 for obtaining a vehicle length, a vehicle height and a vehicle width from the scanning angle data of the laser beams and the laser range finders 5A and 5B and for judging the division of a vehicle type from vehicle type division data inputted beforehand and a display device 7 for displaying a traffic charge judged from the vehicle type division and a vehicle division.
