Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wiper replacement alarm device capable of prompting the replacement of a wiper having the degraded wiping performance.SOLUTION: A vehicle 10 is provided with an in-vehicle camera 21. The in-vehicle camera 21 takes a photograph of the surface of a windshield glass 12. A controller 50 calculates an amount of a raindrop water film attached on a glass surface by processing the image of the glass surface taken by the in-vehicle camera 21 after the wiping action of the wiper. The controller 50 also calculates an estimated amount of the raindrop water film that is estimated to be attached to the windshield glass 12 depending on the moving speed of a wiper blade 35, the speed of a vehicle and a relative wind velocity to the windshield glass 12 and the like. By making comparison between the amount of the raindrop water film obtained based on the image of the in-vehicle camera 21 and the estimated amount of the raindrop water film attached, an alarm is issued to prompt the replacement of the wiper by an alarm device 52 when the amount of the raindrop water film exceeds the estimated amount of the raindrop water film attached and at the same time the difference between both is a predetermined value or more.
