Abstract:
A control signal is provided for controlling a process using slow or non-periodically received process variable measurements 306 and setpoint changes. The signal is generated by multiple iterations of a control routine. During each iteration an integral or reset feedback contribution is generated by using an iterative filter 316 to determine a current integral feedback contribution value. However, this contribution value is used only in iterations where a new measurement of the controlled process variable is received at switch 318. If no new measurement is received, the reset feedback contribution output by switch 318 is maintained at zero or some other previous value. Proportional and derivative feedback contributions may also be generated during each iteration. A differential or velocity based control routine is also provided, which may generate a difference-based proportional contribution using gain 310 and differential 320, and a summed control signal from 322 to iterative filter 316.
