Abstract:
To provide a vertebral spacer in which the synostosis can be promoted when a vertebral spacer is inserted in the intervertebral disc.SOLUTION: A vertebral spacer 1 is provided in which the thickness of a first porous layer 35 of an initial contact surface 25 is larger than the thickness of a second porous layer 37 of a backward surface 29 (e.g., 1.2 times or more). Thus, when the vertebral spacer 1 is inserted into the intervertebral disc, a gas cavity in the first porous layer 35 can be made to remain behind sufficiently even if the first porous layer 35 of the initial contact surface 25 in the insertion direction is destroyed to some extent. Accordingly, a neonatal bone can easily invade in this gas cavity remaining behind, and therefore the synostosis between the first porous layer 35 (i.e., the vertebral spacer 1) and the neonatal bone can be promoted. There is an effect that early synostosis can be promoted after the surgical operation, and also the synostosis strength is increased.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
