Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an overpack contg. spent nuclear fuel easy to handle on the ground.
SOLUTION: A metallic overpack 21 contg. spent nuclear fuel is sealed into a vessel 22 made of a cushioning material consisting essentially of bentonite, the vessel 22 is covered with a metallic cage 24 with a hanger piece 23 provided on the upper face, hence the overpack 21 is easily handled on the ground, and a final-disposal vessel 18 is formed. Consequently, the overpack 21 is smoothly inserted into each vessel receptor hole in a disposal place in a stratum along with the vessel 18.
