Abstract:

To attenuate an earthquake vibration, by fitting an elastic member at an angle slanted by 45 degrees between the vertical rod and the horizontal rod made of L-shaped steel materials and providing links between the rods and fixing the vertical rod to a column and fixing the horizontal rod to a beam respectively.

The ends of a vertical rod 1 and a horizontal rod 2 made of L-shaped steel are fixed to each other at a right angle and an elastic member 3 made of a spring steel flat plate is fixted to the fixing end O at an angle slanted by about 45 degree between the vertical rod 1 and the horizontal rod 2. Square-cylindrical links 4, 5 are provided between the elastic member 3 and the horizontal rod 2 and the vertical rod 1 respectively to form a vibration control device 6 for a building. The links 4, 5 are fitted so that the spans OCA, ODA are about 90 degrees and the length of the span OD is about 1/2 of the length of the span OC. A puerility of vibration control devices 6 are radially fitted to a column 7 and the vertical rods 1 are fixed to the column 7 and the horizontal rods are fixed to the beam 8. When the column 7 moves against the beam 8 by an earthquake, the elastic member 3 is pushed by the link 5 and deflected and the vibration of the building 9 is attenuated.
