To provide a vibration control member for a building which effectively protects the building by sufficiently absorbing a large vibration energy accompanying an earthquake when receiving the large vibration energy.
The vibration control member for the building includes a plurality of rigid members made of an aluminum alloy and viscoelastic materials e sandwiched respectively by such plurality of the rigid members. The plurality of the rigid materials comprises extruded shapes 1a-1c with an almost plate-shaped cross section. Flanges (ends) 3, 6 are arranged adjacent with each other along a direction orthogonal to the extrusion direction of such plurality of the extruded shapes 1a-1c. A wall surface unit 10a to be the vibration control member for the building is provided with a plurality of recessed grooves 8 formed in the extruded shapes 1a, 1b at one side and a plurality of projections 5 inserted into the plurality of the recessed grooves 8 with the viscoelastic materials e sandwiched which are formed in the extruded shapes 1b, 1c at the other side.
