This vibration cutting apparatus is provided with a rotary driving device 10 for rotating a workpiece 9, a vibrating device 1 for vibrating the knife edge of a cutting tool 2 for working the workpiece substantially in the tangential direction of an outside diameter of the workpiece, and a detecting sensor 6 for detecting the outside diameter of the workpiece. At least one of the rotating speed of the workpiece, the vibrating amplitude of the knife edge of the cutting tool and the vibration frequency of the knife edge of the cutting tool is controlled according to the outside diameter of the workpiece detected by the detecting sensor 6, thereby setting the cutting speed of the cutting tool to a desired value.
