Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video display device and a video display method capable of displaying the video signals of a unidirectional progressive scanning system or a unidirectional interlace scanning system as video images of high image quality by a bidirectional scanning system.
SOLUTION: The video signals of the interlace scanning system of a scanning line number 525 and a vertical scanning frequency 60 Hz are converted to the video signals of the scanning line number 1050 and the vertical scanning frequency 120 Hz and the video images are displayed by bidirectional scanning. By performing the offset processing of 1/4 horizontal scanning period to vertical synchronizing signals at the time of starting an odd-numbered field, the relation of interlace is kept in the odd-numbered field and an even-numbered field. By performing the offset processing of 1/2 horizontal scanning period to the vertical synchronizing signals for each frame, the scanning direction of the respective scanning lines is inverted for each frame.
