To solve such a problem that a television receiver for generating an electronic program guide based on conventional EPG information to displaying on a display unit, and selecting or reserving a program takes time to retrieve a program since the television receiver sequentially scrolls the electronic program guide displayed on the screen by operating a remote controller.

A remote control time ring 44 for changing a focus area of the program guide 56 displayed on the display screen 25, vertically moving cursor buttons 39, 41 for moving a focus program 57, and a determination button 43 for determining the focus program 57 as a viewing program, are provided. The remote control time ring 44 and the vertically moving cursor buttons 39, 41 are provided as separate means to be independently operable. A highlighted time zone 63 displays an image display time ring 55 which changes corresponding to rotation of the remote control time ring 44 on the display screen 25. Therefore, a target program can be quickly searched when he/she searches a program which he/she likes to watch in the electronic program guide.
