To freely adjust the time direction of a transient portion without changing maximum and minimum amplitude levels of pixels which constitute the transient portion of a video, and to improve the display quality of the video.
The video processing equipment comprises: a detecting portion 10 including a differential operator for detecting a transient portion of a video signal Sin and detecting amplitude levels of a plurality of pixels which constitute the transient portion, an up-down detecting portion, and a processing unit; a center detecting portion 20 for detecting the center of the transient portion from a change in the detected amplitude levels of the plurality of pixels in the transient portion of the video signal Sin; and a time shortening portion 30 for shortening forward and backward portions of the transient portion in the time direction with the detected center of the transient portion of the video signal Sin as a reference.
