PURPOSE: To provide functions highly needed by users by selectively combining the operating modes of first and second video recording means by command signals and performing the operations of recording and reproduction linked with each other.

CONSTITUTION: By the command signals MOD, the terminals (a), (b) and (c) of switches 9 and 10 are selected and connected by control signals CT. In this case, for an editing function and a dubbing function, the switch 9 is connected to the terminal (a), the first video recording means VRA is operated in a reproduction mode and the second video recording means VRB is operated in a recording mode respectively. Also, for the functions of two-system parallel recording and parallel reproduction, the switch 9 is connected to the terminal (c), the switch 10 is connected to the terminal (b) and the first and second video recording means VRA and VRB are operated in the recording mode or the reproduction mode. On the other hand, for the function of reproduction in the middle of recording, the switches 9 and 10 are connected to the terminal (b), the first video recording means VRA is operated in the recording mode and the second video recording means VRB is operated in a recording/reproduction joint mode.
