Abstract:
PURPOSE: To make the circularity rate of a displayed TV signal to be nearly 100% at all times when a high definition TV signal is converted into a standard TV signal and the converted signal is displayed and to control a displayed video signal so that its center position is not deviated when the video signal is magnified.
CONSTITUTION: A high definition TV signal converted into a standard TV signal or the standard TV signal is inputted selectively to a video magnification circuit 107 having an optional magnification, in which the signal is magnified into the horizontal direction and the resulting signal is displayed on a display device 103 whose aspect ratio is 16:9. The circuit is provided with a magnification control circuit 109 reading and controlling a coefficient for magnification from a storage means in response to a circularity rate of an input signal. Then a new function is realized, in which the coefficient for signal conversion is revised into a predetermined value in response to the changeover of the input video signal and the signal is converted into a video image whose circularity rate is 100% and displayed.
