PURPOSE: To generate an analog RGB signal and a composite signal with a small number of components by providing an analog RGB signal generating means and a means which composes a burst signal of a luminance signal, a chrominance carrier, and a chrominance subcarrier and outputs the composite signal.
CONSTITUTION: The video signal generating device 4 performs the D/A conversion of color data read out of a color data storage means 6 and generates the analog RGB signal A. To output the composite signal, the luminance signal and a color difference signal are generated on the basis of color data of R, G, and B, the chrominance signal is generated from the color difference signal, and at the same time, the chrominance subcarrier signal is inserted by 8-i cycles in the back-porch period of a horizontal synchronizing signal to generate the burst signal; and the luminance signal, chrominance signal, and burst signal are put together to generate the composite signal B. Consequently, one-chip constitution is enabled by using CMOS and the composite signal can be generated with a small number of components.
