To unnecessitate an inherent oscillator, to simplify a system and to improve the accuracy and adaptability of a zebra pattern by performing frequency division of the existing oscillation wave, ORing it with a high luminance part of a signal and forming a zebra pattern.
An output wave which is subjected to frequency division of a basic oscillation wave of a camera part and an oscillation wave of such as a microcomputer drive oscillator of a system in an optional frequency dividing ratio by a frequency divider 11 is made a reference signal of a zebra pattern. The zebra pattern is generated by inputting the reference signal and high luminance of a video signal that is detected by a high luminance detection circuit 12 an OR circuit 13 and ORing them, a VF zebra signal mixing circuit 15 superimposes them upon a video signal to an electronic viewfinder VF of a video camera and the zebra pattern is formed in a high luminance part on the VF. This makes it possible to rationalize a circuit configuration, also to get a stable oscillation wave and to get a stable zebra pattern with high accuracy. Furthermore, it is possible to acquire an optimum zebra pattern on the VF by selecting a frequency-dividing ratio.
