PURPOSE: To pick up diagnostic data and diagnostic item data at the same time, by recording the diagnostic item data on a video tape as digital data together with the diagnostic data.
CONSTITUTION: At recording, diagnostic data and diagnostic item data inputted via an input line (a) are converted into digital data I at a digital data generator 1. A timing controller 2 controls the generating timing of a signal I not duplicated in timing with a synchronizing signal VS of a vertical signal generator 4, and inputs a timing signal to a horizontal signal generator 3, allowing to stop the output of a horizontal synchronizing signal HS at the generation of the signal I. The signals I, HS and VS are synthesized into video signals at a synthesizer 5 and recorded on a VTR6. Thus, the diagnostic data and the diagnostic item data can be picked up at the same time by reproducing the VTR6.
