Each time a terminal reproduces motion picture data, a distribution server as a viewing management apparatus acquires viewing section data containing information of a viewing section thereof. When the request of digest data is accepted from the terminal, on the basis of the stored viewing section data, re-viewing section cumulative data accumulating a time section re-viewed by the same user in the motion picture data are generated. On the basis of re-viewing section cumulative data, a time section that has been re-viewed many times, is then extracted from the motion picture data as digest data thereafter.
