NEW MATERIAL: A compound of formula I {A and B are each 1-8 C alkyl, 3-8 C cycloalkyl, pyridyl, naphthyl, biphenyl, phenyl, etc., these groups being substituted by one to three halogen, amino, 1-4 C alkyl, etc.; X is CH or N], its plant-compatible acid addition salt and metal complex, with the proviso that the compound when A is phenyl optionally substd. by Cl and B is phenyl optionally substd. by Cl at position 4 or at positions 2 and 4 is excluded.
EXAMPLE: 1-(1,2,4-Triazol-1-yl)-2-(4-chlorophenyl)-3-(2-trifluoromethylphenyl)-1- propen-3-ol.
USE: Active ingredient in fungicides and plant growth regulators. Especially, the subject compound exhibits excellent activity against Ascomyceteae or Basidiomyceteae and is useful for controlling fungi in cultural crops.
PROCESS: A compound of formula II is reacted with or without a solvent in the presence of a base at 10-120°C to give the compound of formula I.
