To obtain a new vinyltin compound capable of producing rostaglandins useful as e.g. a swine-oxytocic with a few processes and an inexpensive reaction reagent, by reaction of a protecting group-bearing specific epoxysilicon compound with an organotin metal salt.
This new compound is the optically active or racemic form of a new vinyltin compound of formula I [R1 to R3 are each a 1-12C (substituted) alkyl or (substituted) phenyl; R4 is a protecting group for hydroxyl group] [e.g. (3R)-1-(tri-n-butylstannyl)-3-(triphenylsilyloxy)-4-(m-chlorophenoxy)-1-trans- butene]. This compound is useful as e.g. a reaction reagent capable of producing prostaglandins useful as e.g. a swine-oxytocic with a few processes at low cost. This compound is obtained by reaction the optically active or racemic form of a protecting group-bearing epoxysilicon compound of formula II (R6 to R8 are each the same kind as R1) with an organotin compound of formula III (M1 is an alkali metal).
