Abstract:
PURPOSE: To make the control of a picture possible while being compressed in a picture element level.
CONSTITUTION: In the picture compression system employing the typical picture compression system, a pointer array 34 is provided to point out each of lots of minimum coding units in a compressed picture file. Partial sets of a block is selected as a virtual picture from all blocks of the picture. The virtual picture is edited and each edit block is compressed in an edit block. The edit block is compressed in the edited minimum coding unit and arranged in the edit block area and a pointer to the original minimum coding unit is revised to point out a new minimum coding unit. According to the method, it is possible to revise the pointer array 34 to execute cancellation.
