PURPOSE: To reduce the power consumption of a voice coding processing circuit used for a digital automobile telephone set or the like.
CONSTITUTION: The processing circuit is featured to be provided with a PCM coder 21 converting an analog input signal into a digital signal, a voice coder 24 with a voice detector coding its output and outputting a voice coded data, discriminating the presence of a voice for each period and outputting a voice detection flag whose processing operation is paused with a mode control signal (h) being an output from a mode changeover device 24 with a level detection flag outputted when the analog input signal is inputted to a power comparator 23, in which the signal is compared with a prescribed threshold level and when no voice is in existence.
