PURPOSE: To reduce a watt loss by enabling or disabling a switching circuit, corresponding to the result of comparison between the regulated voltage of a voltage regulator and a reference voltage.
CONSTITUTION: A comparator 17 detects a regulated voltage (output) 13 and applies a signal showing this regulated voltage 13 exceeds a reference voltage VREF1 to a logic circuit 19. The logic circuit 19 applies a control signal to a switch circuit 21, enables the switch circuit 21 and disconnects the input current of a voltage regulator 11 from the charging of a capacitor 16. A comparator 18 detects the regulated voltage (output) 13 and applies a signal to the logic circuit 19 showing that the regulated voltage 13 become lower than a reference voltage VREF2. The logic circuit 19 disables the switch circuit 21 and disables the branch of the input current from the charging the capacitor 16. Thus, the regulated voltage (output) 13 is kept between the reference voltages VREF1 and VREF2 and the watt loss can be reduced.
