Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To readily obtain a W/O type emulsion composition excellent in emulsion stability only by stirring the oil phase containing ethyl cellulose and a specific solvent together with the aqueous phase containing a water-soluble polymer or a specific polyion complex. SOLUTION: The oil phase containing ethyl cellulose and a solvent which can swell the ethyl cellulose and the aqueous phase containing a water-soluble polymer or a polyion complex of a cationized cellulose with sodium hyaluronate are together stirred. The solvent swelling ethyl cellulose is, for example, methanol, ethanol, propanol, benzyl alcohol or the like. In a preferred embodiment, the amount of ethyl cellulose is 0.01-10wt.%, the solvent is 0.01-20wt.% and the polyion complex is 0.1-10wt.% based on the whole emulsion composition. This composition can be prepared without conventional surfactants and shows excellent stability, safety and usability.
