Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a flame-retardant wallpaper free from plasticizer and capable of attaining the evaluation as the Class-1 noncombustibility and fire resistance in JIS specifications.
CONSTITUTION: This wallpaper made of a synthetic resin is produced by compounding (A) 100 pts.wt. of an ethylenic copolymer obtained by the copolymerization of ethylene with a (meth)acrylic acid ester of the formula CH2=CR1C00lQ (R) is H or CH3; R2 is alkyl) with (B) B1: 1-20 pts.wt. of an aliphatic bromine-based flame-retardant such as CR-900 (product of Daihachi Chem. Ind.) having a bromine content of 70% and a phosphorus content of 3% and/or B2: 1-20 pts.wt. of a halogen-containing condensed phosphoric acid ester having a chlorine content of ≥25% and a phosphorus content of > 12% (e.g. CR-509, product of Daihachi Chem. Ind.), (C) antimony trioxide and (D) a hydroxide causing dehydrative decomposition at about 500°C, e.g. magnesium hydroxide. Since the wallpaper is free from plasticizer, the surface staining and cracking defect, etc., caused by the migration of plasticizer can be avoided.
