In a washing and drying machine, warm air for drying is generated and supplied by circulation into a drum 8 through the use of a heat pump mechanism 23 having the cooling medium pipe 27 for circulating the cooling medium in a condenser 25 and a vaporizer 26, or the like by the compressor 24. The washing and drying machine has a configuration including the compressor cover 22 for covering the compressor 24 and the cooling medium pipe 27 to be connected to the compressor 24. A part of the compressor cover 22 is covered by a detachable cover member 22c in order to allow a part of the cooling medium pipe 27 to be exposed outward from the compressor cover 22.
