To provide a washing and drying machine which attains an optimal drying process and performs a reduction of a power consumption.
The washing and drying machine includes: an inner tub 4 freely rotatably supported by an external tub 2; a ventilator 10 which sends heated air in the internal tub 4 and an exhaust port 18 which exhausts the air; a temperature sensor 31 which senses the temperature of the air exhausted from the exhaust port 18; a cloth quantity sensing device which determines the amount of clothes put in the inner tub; and a controller 26 which serially controls a series of processes of washing, rinsing, spin-drying and drying. The controller 26 determines the amount of water included in the clothes after the process of spin-drying by the determined value of the cloth quantity sensor before a water feed process and by the determined value of the cloth quantity sensor after a spin-drying process, and determines the amount of time for the drying process until the clothes are dried thereby enabling to detect an stable drying completion sensing and to control the optimal drying process and to set an optimal amount of time for drying. Thereby, power consumption is reduced and energy saving can be achieved.
