To provide a washing and drying machine which can stop a washing and dewatering tub in a short period of time by acquiring a predetermined brake torque irrespective of a feature of a motor for driving the washing and dewatering tub and a situation of a load applied to the motor.
While a motor for driving a washing and dewatering tub of a washing and drying machine is made to be in a regenerative operation, a motor for driving a blower fan for blowing drying air and a compressor for a heat pump of the washing and drying machine is made to perform power running, and a rise of voltage on a DC power source circuit side is suppressed by allowing the motor for driving the blower fan and the compressor for the heat pump to consume regenerative power by the regenerative operation of the motor for driving the washing and dewatering tub. Thereby, a brake torque is made to be large by increasing the regenerative power of the motor for driving the washing and dewatering tub. The washing and dewatering tub can be stopped in a short period of time as the brake torque can be increased irrespective of a feature of the motor for driving the washing and dewatering tub and the situation of a load.
