To shorten a rising time required for a proper drying operation state, and achieve a power saving.
A drum 3 is provided in a water tub 2, and an air circulation passage 19 is constituted in such a manner that air may circulate through the drum 3. The air circulation passage 19 is equipped with a heat pump cycle 24. The heat pump cycle 24 circulates air by feeding the air into the drum 3, and has a compressor 25, an evaporator 27, and a condenser 26 for making the air fed to the drum 3 into hot air, and dehumidifying the hot air which returns from the drum 3. This washing-drying machine is constituted in such a manner that pre-heating is performed by feeding power to a winding of a motor in the compressor 25 in a manner that the motor does not rotate.
