To provide a washing machine which allows a user to easily comprehend progress of treatment with respect to an object to be treated at one view, and to provide a drying machine.
A washing and drying machine 1 comprises: a housing 2 having a charging port 6 from which an object to be treated is charged; a door part 7 which is positioned at a front side of the housing 2, and is used for opening and closing the charging port 6; a light-emitting part 30 which is arranged at the housing 2 so as to surround the door part 7, and can emit light to the outside from the housing 2; and a control device which conducts such control as to perform treatment with respect to the object to be treated which is charged from the charging port 6, through a plurality of operation steps, and also conducts such control as to make the light-emitting part 30 emit light. The control device changes conditions of light emitted from the light-emitting part 30 according to the operation steps.
