To improve the washing performance of a washing machine by determining the state of laundry in the interior of a drum and suppressing the drum rotating speed.
This washing machine includes a tumbling control section 11 for driving the drum 1 at a predetermined rotating speed, and a quick reverse control section quickly reversing the drum 1 at a short time interval. A frequency component calculation section 10 calculates vibration components within a predetermined frequency range with respect to vibrations of a receiving tub, and controls the rotation speed in the tumbling control section 11 and at least one of the reverse time interval, reverse speed, and torque of the quick inversion control section 12 according to the magnitude of the vibration components. This method can thus provide the drum rotation according to the behavior of the laundry and consequently improve the washing performance.
