To provide a fully automatic washing machine performing water saving automatically without depending on a complicated manual setting.
A washing machine includes: a washing tub; laundry amount sensing means which measures an amount of laundry to be washed in the washing tub; water supply means which pours washing water into the washing tub; and a control device which controls an operation motion of the washing. The washing machine has an operation unit which selects a prescribed washing mode from among a plurality of washing modes including a standard course and a water-saving course. As for an amount of washing water determined according to the laundry amount measured at the laundry amount sensing means, the amount when the water-saving course is selected is made to be less than the amount when the standard course is selected.
