To maintain a stable rotation by avoiding abnormal vibration of the rotary drum attributed to the unbalanced washing in the dehydration process.
The washing machine is provided with the rotary drum, a water tub which holds the rotary drum internally and is supported elastically within the main body of the washing machine, a drum drive motor, a number of revolution detector for detecting the number of revolutions of the rotary drum, a current detection part which detects the current energizing the drum drive motor and a control part which controls the current energizing the drum drive motor from the number of revolutions and the current value detected. The control part carries out a control per each of a plurality of set values preset sequentially from the lower number of revolutions to match each set number of revolutions as a target value when the number of revolutions of the rotary drum is raised toward the maximum rotation from the stoppage in the dehydration process, compares the detected current value of the current detection part with the upper limit current value preset for each set number of revolutions per set number of revolutions and shifts to the control with the subsequent higher set number of revolutions as each target value when the detected current value of the current detection part does not exceed the upper limit current value.
