Abstract:
A washing machine that is provided with: a casing (2); a rotating drum (4) that has a rotational central axis (12) that, from the front of the casing (2) toward the rear, is horizontal or downwardly inclined, and that has a rotating drum opening (4a) provided to the front thereof; and a water tank (1) that houses the rotating drum (4) such that the latter can rotate in both directions, and that is provided with a water tank opening (1a) that is positioned so as to face the rotating drum opening (4a) along the rotational central axis (12). The washing machine is also provided with: a control unit (14) that executes a washing operation that includes a washing step, a rinsing step, a spin step, etc.; and a gap opening (7) that is formed over the entire circumference and that is constituted by a gap that is between a front end (4b) of the rotating drum opening (4a) and a rear end (1b) of the water tank opening (1a). In addition, a covering surface (28) is provided inside the water tank to an outer-circumferential side of the gap opening (7) across the entire circumference thereof. In at least one circumferential-direction part thereof, the covering surface (28) has an inclined part that is inclined in the circumferential direction toward the inner-circumferential side.
