PURPOSE: To provide a washing machine accurately and automatically setting the proper water quantity in response to the fabric weight.
CONSTITUTION: A washing tub 1 is suspended in a main body 3 by four support rods 2. The weight of the washing tub 1 is detected by a weight sensor 4 from the tension applied to the support rods 2. A fabric quantity judgment section 5 judging the fabric quantity from the detected value of the weight sensor 4 judges the weight of the laundry via the change quantity from the known weight of the washing tub 1. A water quantity determination section 6 determines the proper water quantity from the output value of the fabric quantity judgment section 5. A comparator 7 generates a signal in response to the compared value between the water quantity determined by the water quantity determination section 6 and the detected value of the weight sensor 4, and a controller 8 controls a water feed valve 9 in response to the signal of the comparator 7.
