To provide a waste heat recovery system capable of efficiently supercharging an engine and efficiently recovering waste heat of the engine.
The waste heat recovery system (1) includes a compressor (9) for supercharging the engine (2), a turbine (5) that is actuated by vapor generated by the waste heat of the engine (2) so as to drive the compressor (9), and a motor (11) for driving the compressor (9). The waste heat recovery system (1) also includes a first clutch (13) for switching the connection state between the motor (11) and the turbine (5), a second clutch (15) for switching the connection state between the compressor (9) and the turbine (5), a third clutch (17) for switching the connection state between the compressor (9) and the motor (11), and an ECU (18) that issues switching commands to the clutches. Each clutch is switched between connected and disconnected conditions in accordance with the condition of the engine (2).
