To use carbonized gas generated in a rotary kiln as fuel by liquefying and extracting a tar component in the carbonized gas by a tar extracting device and supplying the extracted tar to a surface melting furnace as the fuel.
In a surface melting furnace 4 for melting carbonized residue 1, tar 8 extracted from carbonized gas 2 is used as fuel for heating. The tar 8 is extracted by a tar extracting device 7 on the way of a carbonized gas conveye passage 12. The tar extracting device 7 is provided between a rotary kiln 3 and the surface melting furnace 4 and comprises a guide part for guiding the carbonized gas 2 while it is maintained at high temperature so as to suppress the condensation of the tar 8, a cooling part for cooling the carbonized gas 2 for condensing the tar and a tar storing part for retaining the heat of the condensed tar so as to keep the tar in a fluidal state. Then, the liquefied and extracted tar 8 is conveyed to the surface melting furnace 4 by a tar supply passage, sprayed, the sprayed tar is ignited and burnt by luminous flame and the burnt tar radiates high temperature radiation energy and melts the carbonized residue 1.
