Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to surely stabilize various harmful metals in waste by housing the waste together with water into a water tank, adding a treating agent composed of an aq. soln. of soluble silicate as a main constituting component into the water tank and treating the waste in the water tank.
SOLUTION: The treating material composed of the aq. soln. of the soluble silicate as the main constituting component is added into the water tank in which the waste of dry matter, such as the incineration ashes and flying ashes of the waste generated by municipal refuse incineration facilities is housed. The soluble silicate in the treating agent forms the insolubilized matter of heavy metals, such as Pb, by reacting with the heavy metal ions existing in the waste. The soluble silicate reacts with the polyvalent metal ions, such as Ca, existing in the waste and include the heavy metals in the reaction product thereof. The carbonate consisting of either of sodium carbonate and potassium carbonate is added as the treating agent in addition to the soluble silicate in the treating agent into the waste. Then, the various harmful metals in the waste are surely stabilized.
