To provide waste paper-compounded newsprint paper which has good printability, a high tensile strength and a high tear strength, and can prevent the occurrence of a printing trouble such as paper breakage.

This waste paper-compounded newsprint paper compounded with water paper pulp is characterized by containing magazine waste paper pulp in an amount of ≥5% and having a tensile strength of 2.4KN/m defined by JIS-P 8113 and preferably further a tear strength of ≥380 mN defined by JIS-P 8116. The method for producing the waste paper-compounded newsprint paper is characterized by disintegrating and roughing the magazine waste paper pulp or waste paper pulp containing magazine waste paper in a waste paper pulp-treating process and then classifying the products with a ≤0.12mm slit in a classification degree of ≥10%.
