Abstract:

PURPOSE: Cr-Ni-Mo based stainless steel is added with apecific amount of Al, Ti, etc. to provide watch armor products having excellent magnetic property, resistance to corrosion, high hardness, and wear resistance.

CONSTITUTION: Stainless steel contains C<0.08%, Cr: 13 to 18%, Ni: 1.5 to 6.0%, and either Al+Ti: 0.5 to 4%, or Al: 0.5 to 4%, or Ti: 0.5 to 3%. To provide high cutting property, one or more of Se, Pb, and Te are included in amount of 0.1 to 0.15%. If the material contains 0.1 to 0.15% of S, Mn is added in amount of 1 to 2%. Solution structuer quenched from 1100 to 1200°C is ferrite single phase with hardness of HV 250, easy to cut and pressed, and has high hardness and nonmagetic property, and as such suitable as watch armor products.
