PURPOSE: To inhibit the propagation of fungi by bonding a hydrophilic water- permeable sheet by a polymer having antifungal properties in a water-absorbing water-retention sheet, in which a water-insoluble high water-absorbing polymer is held by a base material and the hydrophilic water-permeable sheet.

CONSTITUTION: In a water-absorbing water-retention sheet 1, a specific water- insoluble high water-absorbing polymer layer 13 is held between a base material 11 and a hydrophilic water-permeable sheet 12, and the base material 11 and the sheet 12 are unified through adhesives 14, and various plastic films are used as a substance having no water permeability and paper, knitted woven cloth, a nonwoven fabric, etc., as a substance having water permeability respectively in the base material 11. A hydrophilic water-permeable sheet bonded by polymer having antifungal properties is employed for preventing the propagation of fungi such as mould due to moisture absorbed by the water-insoluble high water-absorbing polymer layer 13 as the hydrophilic water-permeable sheet 12 at that time. A certain quarternary ammonium salt polymer having molecular weight of 1,000-100000 and antifungal properties is used as such a polymer.
