To provide a water absorbent body that can readily form a water absorption path inside an energization patch, and to provide an energization patch using the same.SOLUTION: A water absorbent body 14 includes: a sponge 15 including air bubbles; and a buffer agent comprising an electrolyte, where a solid body of the buffer agent is exposed at inner wall surfaces of the air bubbles.
