Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid the occurrence of roll marks in right-turn gravure coating and improve the appearance of a laminate by incorporating a water-base resin and a specific acetylene glycol into a water-base adhesive.
SOLUTION: This water-base adhesive compsn. contains a water-base polyurethane resin and/or a water-base acrylic resin, 0.5-8wt.% acetylene glycol represented by the formula (R1 to R4 are each H or a 1-10C org. group; and m and n are each 0-3), and 1-10wt.% polyoxyethylene-polyoxyalkylene copolymer. This laminating method comprises coating a flexible substrate with the compsn. by rightturn gravure coating to form an adhesive layer, smoothing the surface of the adhesive layer with a smoothing roll, drying the layer with a dryer, and sticking another flexible substrate to the surface of the layer. The acetylene glycol and the polyoxyethylene-polyoxyalkylene copolymer may be added by any method. The figure shows the concept of right-turn gravure coating.
