PURPOSE: To prepare the subject compsn. which is free from the risk of environmental pollution, etc., and excellent in dryability, pigment dispersion, heat resistance, etc., by mixing a specific polysaccharide deriv., a water-soluble and/or -dispersible resin, and water as the main components.

CONSTITUTION: The objective compsn. is prepd. by mixing a polysaccharide deriv. of the formula [wherein PYR is a pyranose ring comprising C6H7O2; X is a hydrophilic group such as COOH, O(CH2)n2COOH, NH2, O(CH2)n3NH2, or NHCOCH3; n2 is 1-3; n3 is 1-3; 0<x<3; 0<y<3; 0≤z<3; x+y+z=3; and n1 is 20-500] (e.g. carboxyethylcellulose nitrate) in an amt. of 1-35wt.% based on the compsn., a water-sol. and/or -dispersible resin (e.g. a styrene-butadiene copolymer), and water as the main components.
