PURPOSE: To provide the titled compsn. which has excellent ejectability, gives an image having excellent resistance to water and light and is useful as magenta water-based ink, containing a specified water-soluble dye.
CONSTITUTION: An ink compsn. contg. 0.5W20pts.wt. at least one water-soluble dye of the formula [wherein R1, R2 are each H, lower alkyl, alkoxy, halogen; R3 is R1, sulfone or its base; Z1, Z2 are each H, lower alkyl, phenyl, acetyl, alkylsulfonyl, (un)substituted benzoyl, (un)substituted benzenesulfonyl, substd. 1,3,5-triazine; M is H, a cation such as Li, K, Na or org. amine; n is 1W2] per 100pts.wt. ink, water and optionally, 5W80wt% water-soluble org. solvent, other dye and additives such as preservative, pH adjustor for adjusting pH to 9.0W11.0, specific electrical conductivity modifier, chelating agent, rust inhibitor, water-soluble ultraviolet absorber, etc., are blended together to obtain a magenta water-based ink for ink jet recording.
