PURPOSE: A water-dispersed resin composition which forms a coating film excellent in the resistance to water, boiling water, alkali and blocking, prepared by polymerizing a polymerizable monomer having conjugated unsaturated bonds in the presence of an amphoteric compound and colloidal silica.
CONSTITUTION: The purpose water-dispersed resin composition is obtained by polymerizing a polymerizable monomer having conjugated unsaturated bonds in the presence of 0.2W10wt%, based on the total monomer, amphoteric compound, and 0.1W4wt%, in terms of solids, colloidal silica. Highly useful amphoteric surfactants include β-hydroxyalkylaminosulfonic acid compounds of the formula (wherein R1 is a 4W30C hydrocarbon-based substituent, -A- is -CH2-, -O-, or -C(O)-O-, R2 is H or CH3, R3 is H or a 1W30C hydrocarbon-based substituent, and R4 is an ethylene group).
