To provide a dispersing element composed of polyester resin particles having a small diameter, to provide its production method, to provide a coating agent, containing this dispersing element for an electrophotographic image- reception paper, and the electrophotographic image-reception paper coated with this coating agent.

The polyester resin particles having a particle diameter of 5-500 nm are dispersed in water to form a water dispersing element, wherein the polyester resin has an alkyl group and/or an alkenyl group and also a carboxylic group. A part or total of this polyester resin (a) having a glass transition temperature by a differential scanning thermal analysis of 50-70°C and a solubility parameter of 9.0-17.0, is neutralized with a basic compound. The production method for this water dispersing element, the coating agent containing this dispersing element, for the electrophotographic image-reception paper, and the electrophotographic image-reception paper coated with this coating agent, are provided.
