To make a whole instrument compact by providing a partition plate for defining a heat exchange chamber and a gas exhaust chamber in a second heat exchanger disposed above a first heat exchanger.
A second heat exchanger 3 as a drain-producing part is provided above a first heat exchanger 2 as a drain-nonproducing part, and a partition plate 4 is provided in the interior of the second heat exchanger 3 so as to define a heat exchange chamber 5 as the drain producing part and a gas exhaust chamber 7 for collecting exhaust gas. The partition plate 4 is disposed so as to cover a meandering flexible water pipe 7 provided in the heat exchanger 5. A drain receiving plate 11 is provided below the water pipe 7 so as to vaporize the drain. By this constitution, the height of an instrument can be made short so that volume of a whole water heater can be reduced.
