PURPOSE: To provide a water intake device for a marine vessel simple in the structure of a water intake part so as to facilitate manufacture while reducing pressure loss and preventing foreign matter from entering an intake.
CONSTITUTION: A water intake device has an intake 3 provided at a hull 1, below the water surface 2, fins 5 erected near the intake 3 in the state of protruding from the hull 1 by the specified height (h) almost in the streamline direction upstream of the streamline of water at the advance time when a marine vessel advances in a direction of an arrow mark A, an intake duct 6 provided inside the hull 1 and communicated with the intake 3, and a pump 7 provided in the intake duct 6 so as to become a water jet propulsion machine for sucking water from the intake 3. Foreign matter is thereby brought into contact with the fins 5 and eliminated outside of the streamline sucked into the intake 3. With this structure, the pressure loss at an intake part is reduced, the structure of an opening part is simplified so as to facilitate manufacture, and the fins can be supported firmly and stably.
