Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water intake device for storing cooling seawater in a water intake site (for example, in a bay) even in backwash time of a Tsunami, while being formed as a constitution capable of using the seawater of a deep part of an open sea in normal time.SOLUTION: A water intake device is provided for taking cooling seawater by a pump from a shore side first water area, and comprises a dam 300 arranged between the first water area and a second water area on the offshore side more than the first water area and a water passage 310 having a first opening 312 of turning to the shore side and a second opening 311 of turning to the offshore side in a lower position than a height of the dam in the second water area, arranged on the upper side of the dam 300, in which the cooling seawater flows toward the first opening 312 from the second opening 311 when a water level of a sea surface is higher than the height of the dam and the cooling seawater does not flow toward the second opening 311 from the first opening 312 when the water level of the sea surface becomes low up to the height of the dam 300.
